What is the home-security contract analyzer?

It is a free tool that scans the text of a home-security monitoring contract or equipment financing agreement and returns a buyer-defense letter grade (A–F) with a one-sentence rationale. It then breaks down the contract into 11 categories — auto-renewal, early termination fees, equipment financing, hardware lock-in, transfer and relocation, arbitration waivers, rate escalators, cancellation notice periods, monitoring commitment length, data privacy, and ownership ambiguity — and tells you exactly what to verify in writing for each detected clause.

How is this different from the Quote Decoder?

Accepted Answer

The Quote Decoder is for sales emails and quote summaries — pre-purchase. The Contract Analyzer is for signed or about-to-sign contracts: monitoring agreements, equipment financing agreements, dealer-sold residential contracts. The analyzer outputs a letter grade (more screenshot-friendly and citation-friendly) and supports PDF upload. Use the Quote Decoder before you ask for a contract; use the Analyzer once you have one.

Is my contract text stored anywhere?

Accepted Answer

The default local analysis runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — nothing is sent to any server. The optional AI Deep Audit and PDF upload features send your text to our server only when you explicitly click the button. We do not store the contract text, do not log it, and do not send it to HubSpot or any marketing tool. Logs only record metrics (grade, flag count, page count), never content.

What does each letter grade mean?

A: no critical clauses and either explicitly buyer-friendly terms (no contract, no ETF, owned equipment) or only standard disclosures. B: zero critical clauses with a few warning-level items. C: one critical clause OR many warning-level items — typical 24-month industry-standard contracts often score here. D: two critical clauses, such as a 36-month commitment combined with auto-renewal or equipment financing. F: three or more critical clauses, such as a 5-year monitoring lock combined with balance-of-contract ETF and a separate equipment financing agreement.

Does the analyzer support PDF uploads?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in v1 the analyzer supports text-based PDF uploads up to 5 MB and 30 pages. Scanned (image-only) PDFs are not supported in v1 — we don't OCR. If your contract is a scanned PDF, paste the text instead. The PDF is processed in memory and discarded immediately after analysis; no contract is stored on our servers.

Can the analyzer give me legal advice on my contract?

Accepted Answer

No. The analyzer is an educational tool that identifies common patterns and tells you what to verify in writing. It does not interpret your specific contract for binding legal effect. For legal interpretation, consult a licensed attorney in your state.
